samsung rugby sgh-A847 Tips & tricks

Tip #1: Changing the Navigation Key Shortcuts

Each of the four Navigation keys (up, down, right, left) can be set as a shortcut to an application or menu.

To change the shortcuts, go to Menu > Settings > Phone > Shortcuts. Select the Navigation key to be changed, and press the Options soft key. Select Change, and choose between None, My Stuff, AppCenter, Contacts, Recent Calls, Create New Message, Mobile Email, My Messages, IM, Media Player, Wallpaper, Ringtone, Calendar, Tasks, Bluetooth, Record Audio, Converter, Settings, Voice Recognition, Alarms, World Clock, Calculator, Games, and Security.

Select the desired option and press Save. Repeat the steps to change the other three keys.

Tip #2: Unanswered Push to Talk Calls

Remind customers that while unanswered or declined voice calls will be directed to voicemail where the caller can leave a message, unanswered Push to Talk calls do not go to voicemail.

Tip #3: Rejecting a Push to Talk Call

Users can reject a PTT call without even opening the phone. When an unwanted PTT call is received, the user can push and hold the Volume key on the left side of the phone until the external screen displays Call Ended.

Tip #4: Converting a Push to Talk Call to a Wireless Call

Convert an in-progress PTT call to a wireless call by touching the Options soft key and selecting Convert to Cellular. The user’s PTT call will become a wireless call. However, the other caller’s status is not affected unless the participant also converts the call to cellular.

Tip #5: Refuse Anonymous and Advertising Messages

Users can block multimedia messages that are sent anonymously or ones that the phone identifies as advertising. To enable these features, go to Menu > Messaging > Messaging Settings > Multimedia Message > Receiving Options.

Select Reject Anonymous to check the box beside it. Repeat with the Reject Advertisement option. Press Save to update the messaging settings.

Tip #6: Water Resistant vs. Waterproof

The Samsung Rugby II is water resistant – not waterproof, which means that it can withstand conditions up to a certain extent. It is made up of components that can withstand water, such as blowing rain and high humidity, and can even survive limited submersion in water.

Tip #7: Using GPS to Set a Pedestrian Route

AT&T Navigator blazes a trail not only for drivers, but for pedestrians too. To retrieve a walking route rather than a driving route, press the GPS shortcut key.

Select Drive To, and enter an address. As the GPS begins plotting the route, press the Edit soft key and choose Route Style. Scroll to Pedestrian and select Go. AT&T Navigator will display the route, along with distance and estimated walking time.

Tip #8: One-touch Browser Launching

When in Idle mode or on the Home screen, simply touch the center Navigation key to instantly launch the web browser. To launch the browser while using other features on the phone, press the and scroll to Mobile Web.

Tip #9: Multifunctional Music Player

The Music Player on the Samsung Rugby II is so much more than just audio playback. Check out these features that are also part of the Music Player:
Shop Music and Music Applications: Download new songs, ringtones, and music applications from the web
MusicID: Find out the title of a song and artist info in just a few seconds
AT&T Radio: Access local and online radio stations
Music Videos: MobiVJ offers hot, new music videos in multiple genres, plus a fashion and sports channel
Make UR Tones: Download songs and turn them into ringtones
Community: Read up on music and entertainment news
The Music Player can be activated by going to Menu > AT&T Music or by pressing the and scroll to Music.

Tip #10: Activating the Camera

Because the Samsung Rugby II is a PTT phone, it doesn’t allow for an additional key on the side of the phone for accessing the camera. The camera can be activated by going to Menu > My Stuff > Tools > Camera. Or, users can press the left soft key to access Shortcuts. By default, the camera is the first shortcut listed.

Tip #11: Customizing the My Shortcuts Key

When pressed, the left soft key accesses My Shortcuts, and by default, it houses nine shortcuts, with three remaining empty to be customized by the user. Scroll down to an empty selection and press the Options soft key, and Assign.

Users can select from PTT, Messaging, Mobile Email, Mobile Web, AppCenter, YPmobile, AT&T GPS, Address Book, AT&T Music, My Stuff, Mobile Video, and Settings.

Tips & tricks: Get Widgets At & t samsung Mythic A897

AT&T Samsung Mythic a897
Download to get widgets for your new At & t samsung Mythic A897? Samsung Mythic forum shares the tips to get it.

At first, register at the samsung innovator site

http://innovator.samsungmobile.com/wgt/cp.do?platformId=12

This link is for the widget test page. After you register you can upload widgets here and then download them to your phone using a pin widget that you will have to download from their site first. http://widget.samsungmobile.com/pin.htm Try the widget for the star and pixon.

The downloadable pin widget seems to be offline. I don’t know if its temporary or permanent. But if you can’t install the pin widget to your phone then go to this link on your phone and it will do the same thing as the pin widget.

http://widget.samsungmobile.com/pin.jsp

Now this site is supposed to be for widgets that you personally make. So if you upload a widget, after you download it to your phone then delete the widget from the test page.

You upload a widget to the test page by clicking on register. You will have to enter a name and a description and hit save. To download select the pin download method. This gives you the pincode to enter on your phone. If you dont have the pin widget yet it also gives you the link to get it on your phone using your phone.

Then using the pin widget enter the pincode and you will then download and install the widget.

I had issues getting the pin code to connect the first time. Change your browsers network profile and then reboot your phone. Then change it back to medianet and it was able to connect.

If that doesnt work for you then try this. Edit the widgetstatus.ini file with TKFE. It is located in the registry folder of your phone. Upload it to your pc and open it with wordpad or notepad. Change NetworkAccess from a ‘0′ to a ‘1′ and save it. Then download it back to your phone and reboot your phone.

The translate widget will translate from one language to another and there are many languages to choose from. It is a now a newer version that Bantam has edited it so it shows the translation in a white box. Thanks Bantam. Just install over top of previous version if you installed it already.
